Hi! Sorry for the lack of posts this week! I am having a bit of technical problem with the laptop & our internet and am hoping to resume the shopping fun next week. Thanks for the understand!
I love wearing jeans as the temperatures fall in the autumn but some days I want to break out of the mom rut and try something new. This cowlneck dress is perfect for cool days when paired with either colored tights or leggings.
Shoe Tip: Try ankle boots to truly be up to the minute.
The Limited is offering 40% off all pants, skirts and jackets right now through 9/20. No code needed. One of my favorites are these cords for $35.70 (reg $59.50). They are part of the 917 fit which offers a slim waist but curvy hips and thighs. I also like that they have a bit of spandex for stretch. They come in five colors but I am thinking about gray (trying to get out of the jeans rut!).
I demand a lot from my jeans. I want them to make me look good AND be comfortable. I just recently came across Levi's 512 Perfectly Slimming Jeans. The rise hits just below the belly button so they make your tummy flatter (and they also include a special tummy flattening panel) with a slim fit through the waist and hips to avoid the dreaded mom jeans look. Plus they can include a little bit of spandex which makes all the difference for comfort. What more can a stylish mama ask for? Did I mention they cost less than $50?
Shopping Tip: These have a cult following. For a low cost option, make sure to search ebay.
I started to switch over my closet this weekend, putting away my summer dresses and pulling out some pants. I found my black leggings from last spring and was reminded of how comfy they can be and yet so very stylish. Pair them with a tunic sweater like this one from Kohl's (on sale for $24.50) and be up to the minute in style and also be at your most comfortable! Check out Whitney Port's similar style here - this outfit is a good mom friendly twist on the look!
I eat meat but these boots totally got me! They look absolutely gorgeous and are very wallet friendly. Boots are very mommy friendly because they pull on easily and quickly as you are dashing out the door AND keep the bottom of your pants dry on those rainy days where you still have to get out of the house to avoid going stir crazy!
Shopping Tip: Use code SHOP to get 15% off purchases. Expiration unknown.
Forever 21 launched a new line called Love 21 a few months ago. It's supposed to be a little more grownup with better fabrics and a little more modest. Since I am having a wardrobe crisis, I am giving it a try. Forever 21 can be a truly great store. It follows the trends closely and it's prices are pretty amazing. Quality can be an issue though. I placed an order yesterday and am pretty excited to see! The good news: online orders from Forever 21 can be returned by mail - something that isn't true at their retail stores.
I am ready to throw away my flip flops. As much as I love my Havaianas, I am ready to wear real shoes again. I was strolling through Soho today (on a much needed window shopping, coffee sipping mommy break) and noticed that flats are it for fall. In my sleep deprived haze of the last few years, I never noticed that shoes have four seasons too! I don't have to jump straight into my clogs. I can stop and enjoy the slip on fun of flats -- and put off socks at least one more month! Check out this pair from Wanted Women. I am leaning toward practical black but might just have go for the silver!
The weather has cooled down into the 70s here in New York, and I had a closet freakout this morning. I stared into the depths of my wardrobe and realized I have absolutely nothing to wear for Fall. I have cute summer dresses or some lovely sweaters for winter, but I must have gone naked last year (I was in a haze of two young kids and may have worn my jammies everyday!). So I jumped on the computer during nap time and did a little shopping for transitional clothing. My favorite find is this chambray shirt from Obey at Karmaloop. I can roll the sleeves up or wear them down and layer a cami under as it gets cooler. Plus it just looks comfy yet casually chic!
Shopping Tip: Use code AS33085 in the rep line to get 20% off your order.
Right now, Bloomingdale's is having their Brown Bag Sale thru 9/7. The sale gets you an additional 30% off their sale items PLUS an additional 20% off at checkout with code SAVE20. One of my favorite is this Eileen Fisher top for just over $50.
Shopping Tip: This sale includes kids!
PS I am taking Labor Day off from shopping (except for maybe an actual trip to a store this weekend!). See you Tuesday and enjoy your long weekend!
